The Federal first opened in March of 2004, after three guys got together and saw a need for a solid neighborhood bar that celebrated Durham. But not just any neighborhood bar, one that served simple but fantastic food, that would exceed expectations. And with this good food came good beer - 14 micros from around the country and a solid bottle selection.

Dos Perros is our answer to what has amounted to a challenging compromise in Mexican cuisine in the Triangle and beyond. One can find a delicious authentic taco by going to a traditional taqueria, but often at the expense of atmosphere - waiting in line, eating on a paper plate at a formica table under florescent lights; quaint, but hardly date-night material and often without even a proper margarita. To get a slightly more refined version, the only other option is typically a Southwestern or Tex-Mex-styled restaurant.

Tobacco Road is not a sports bar. Brothers Brian, Alex and Rommie Amra share a passion for both sports and good food. Unfortunately, they found that their favorite places to watch the game were never the same as their favorite places to eat, and decided to remedy this for the people of the Triangle.

As a result, the Amras are unwavering in their insistence that the menu and atmosphere of Tobacco Road Sports Cafe reflect our commitment a to delivering fresh, local food; exceptional service and infinite sports.
